A well-toned body with smooth contours is a sign of fitness achieved by healthy diet and exercise. But exercise cannot always achieve desired results for people who have loose, sagging skin and uneven contours. Aging, sun damage, pregnancy and significant fluctuations in weight as well as genetic factors may contribute to poor tissue elasticity and can result in sagging of the abdomen, buttocks and thighs. Dr. Henjyoji evaluates each patient and will discuss the treatments to achieve the best results.
TUMMY TUCK (Abdominoplasty)
A procedure usually performed in post partum patients or with a significant weight loss. Exercise can tighten the abdominal muscles but not the overlying skin or a lax underlying muscle fascia. According to the evaluation, a full abdominoplasty (with lifting and tightening) from pubic area to rib cage, or a modified mini abdominoplasty from pubic to umbilicus is selected. A regional liposuction usually accompanies this surgery.
Typically, there is a low transverse suprapubic incision and one encircling the umbilicus. Occasionally there is no umbilical incision with the modified surgery. In addition, correction of an adherent cesarean scar to the underlying fascia can be done for the post c-section overhang.
MOMMY MAKEOVER (for Pregnancy & Menopause)
Pregnancy is a wonderful experience but can result in less than desirable body changes. Even with dedicated measures to exercise and control weight and to stay n shape, surgery may be needed to restore your pre-pregnancy figure. Menopause can cause increase in weight especially in the abdomen, thighs and hips. Dr. Henjyoji has helped hundreds of women to overcome the physical discomfort and emotional concern from the post-pregnancy changes, even years after the pregnancy and especially after menopause.
During the consultation with Dr. Henjyoji various choices of procedures will be discussed. Careful direction will be provided as to how best to tailor the surgical approach. These include abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, liposuction, breast lift and breast implants. Occasionally a trunk lift, thigh lift or arm re-contouring is helpful in restoring your figure.
For less bruising and discomfort, tumescent liposuction is done with a pre-injection of saline solution into the area to be treated; this is followed by fat removal with a cannula. Liposuction is best performed when there are localized areas of fat in a healthy patient with good skin elasticity; this pinpoints areas of fat accumulation that do not decrease with diet and exercise. This is not a surgery for obesity.
